March 23 2012

Zach made me a box for our "salad veggies"!  The vision is that it will be filled with lettuce, spinach, radishes, and green onions.  Today I planted the green onion seeds.  I was anxious to get them in since they take 120 days.

I also planted an indoor herb window garden with oregano, cilantro, basil, and rosemary.

Can't wait to start clipping fresh basil!

Potential

Every Spring is the same hopeful feeling.  Looking at the tidy dirt piles and imagining something to come.

March 22 2012

 Sawyer "helping" plant potatoes
Potatoes in the ground!
From front to back:  Rose Fin Apple (110 days), Russet Burbank (Early-Mid Season), Sangre Red (80 days), Yellow Fin (90 days)

Also planted garlic for the first time.  Hopefully we will be warding off vampires in mid to late summer.

Texas Sweet Onions were planted today as well.  Hopefully we will be warding off Amanda in mid to late summer...

First Fruits of Labor

Actually, this labor was done two years ago.  Gotta love strawberries!  Keep coming back and multiplying.

Hopefully this year we can get some fruit before the birds.

March 21 2012

Brought home and spread a truckload of manure today.  Thanks Huffmans!  Hazel loved riding the horses.  Tilled the manure into the new garden areas.  Tilled all of the old beds.  Ready for taters and onions!

March 20th 2012

Carrots are in the ground!  Burpee Danvers 126.  75 days until maturity.  How many days until Amanda's maturity?
